The deceased and wife on their Wedding Day
A 36 year old man, Ugochukwu Ozuah who got married few days ago has been shot dead by men alleged to be in police uniform.
The incident occurred in Lagos at about 10:00pm when the deceased conveyed his friend, Mr. Irikefe to UPS junction in Gbagada to catch a taxi to his destination.
According to the report, no sooner had they alight from his car when men in police uniform accosted them demanding for their identity. One of the men allegedly fired at the deceased. “He was shot in the heart and the bullet pierced through him and escaped through the back,” the deceased’s in-law, Mr. Chuba Nnonyelu” lamented.
He was rushed to a major hospital in GRA, Ikeja where he was confirmed dead.
Mr. Ozua and Joan tied the knot on Saturday 15th September, at The Redeemed Evangelical Mission (TREM).
However, the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, (PPRO), Mrs. Ngozi Braide, reacting to the allegation, said the men who shot Ugochukwu were armed robbers in police uniform, saying they were not in a police van and that there were no policemen on duty at that place that night.
Late Ozuah hailed from Awka Local Government Area of Anambra State.
