About 248 passengers aboard Qatar Airways plane coming from Doha, the capital of Qatar, escaped death yesterday afternoon as the plane made an emergency landing at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja,Lagos due to a flat tyre.
The pilot of the Airbus A330-200 plane had sent a distress call to air traffic controllers on duty at the airport, alerting them of the misfortune.
Scores of rescue teams including; fire fighters from the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, Lagos State Fire Service, the Federal Fire Service, rescue workers from the National Emergency Management Agency, Julius Berger among others were immediately mobilized to the airport to await the distressed aircraft.
The aircraft however touched down safely on runway 18R of the airport at about 1:15pm.(Story credit: Punch)
