My Porn Collection

When I surf the web for porn I usually save the pics I like most. Right now I have about 35,000 pics as well as some assorted clips. Lately I keep more than I use to, due in part to the larger capacity of my hard drive and due in part to the fact that I haven't deleted them due to guilt/shame/paranoia lately.

I like to categorize the porn as I collect it. I have folders for pretty girls, various poses, bondage, cunnilingus, classic porn stars, cocksuckers, etc. Right now I have 72 categories/folders and some of these contain sub-folders. Sometimes I really don't know where to put a pic so then it goes into the MyPictures root folder. This one's very large right now.

When I find a pic I'm going to save I'll masturbate over it a bit, sometimes more and sometimes less. I also masturbate over some pics I don't save, but usually not as much. When I find something that's really interesting I'll try to get more of the same. If it's a pretty girl she might even get a sub-folder of her own in the pretty girls folder.

I like to go through my folders occasionally, masturbating over old favorites. It's hard to imagine, but somehow I don't have enough porn yet, especially in some of my categories. But it sure is better than in the days when all I had were mags. They really took up a lot of space and the resolution of their pics was nowhere near as good.

What's new- Fucking machines and the Coolege effect

A few years ago I was surfing the web for porn as I often do when I came across a post about fucking machines. At the time I had never seen such a thing and I was instantly aroused and fascinated. I started looking for more, but unfortunately the only thing I could find was that single short lo-resolution clip. This is by no means an isolated incident. I'm usually turned-on by some new perversion when I first encounter it. I'll masturbate repeatedly over it, and then that compulsion slowly dies down. I'll jerk-off over her and collect more of her porn, but soon I'll go on to someone else. Of course it's always nice to revisit some of these old flames, but often it's not as intense as that first time.

This brings us to the Coolidge effect. Wikipedia describes this as “a phenomenon—seen in nearly every mammalian species in which it has been tested—whereby both males and females exhibit continuous high sexual performance given the introduction of new receptive partners.” Said differently, new pussy is usually more erotic.

Behaviorists would tell us that we should tend to repeat whatever is associated with reinforcement. And what is more reinforcing that an orgasm? So based on this principal wouldn't you expect that we would end up masturbating over the same porn image all of the time? But when it comes to sex (as well as many other things) there would seem to be a certain tension between repetition and novelty. How is the penis represented in our brains?

Here's a classic depiction of the somatosensory homunculus. Each part of our bodies are represented in a topographic fashion on the surface of the cortex of our brain. This homunculus is upside down, with his feet at the top. The lips and the hands are relatively large since they have more sensory nerves than most other body parts. The classic view puts the penis just below the foot.












Most of us would have thought it goes elsewhere. In fact, this what more recent findings suggest.

But what about the size of the representation of the penis?






Unlike the classic homunculus, this 3D version has a large penis to go along with those big hands. This makes more sense since as we all know, our dicks are very sensitive and surely must have more nerve endings than our elbows.

I also ran across a couple of studies that were investigating whether or not males with premature ejaculation had larger representations of their penis in their brains. These studies were negative and did not support the notion that premature ejaculation was due to overly sensitive cocks. My belief is that these scientists were looking at the wrong group of individuals.

Other research has shown that the sensory maps in our brains are plastic- the representation of body parts or sounds can be enlarged by our experience. This is particularly true if those experiences are highly arousing. Thus it stands to reason that the group we would expect to have larger representations of their penis would be those males who masturbate frequently. Perhaps one of the consequences of frequent masturbation is that our dicks come to occupy a greater part of our brains.

Of course, the discussion so far relates only to males. As we might expect the female homunculus has a clitorus.
