A commercial motorcyclist, Ifeanyi, has been arrested for allegedly selling a nurse, Mrs. Helen Ilonge, to ritual killers after collecting N10, 000.
Ilonge, the coordinator of Primary Health Care in Bekwarra Local Government Area of Cross River State, Tuesday, boarded the bike from Okpongrinya junction when she met her untimely death.
According to the report, Ilonge (51) was beheaded while her other vital reproductive parts such as breast and vagina were removed for ritual purposes. Meanwhile, the woman had called her daughter, Victoria, around 9pm that she had taken a bike at Okpogrinya Junction on her way to Igoli. That was the last they heard from her as repeated calls to her line indicated that the line was switched off.
Two days later, a caller allegedly demanded a ransom of N50, 000 to be remitted in the form of recharge card which was obliged after which the caller switched off his phone.
Luck, however, ran out on Ifeanyi as police tracked his telephone and subsequently arrested him and four of his cohorts who confessed to removing the woman’s vital organs before burying her remains in a swamp.
Late Mrs. IIonge is a widow with 5 children.
