I’m still trying to absorb the shock. I still can’t. For I’ve seen incidents of man’s brutality to fellow man, but none as horrific as this. How can anybody raise a hand to take the life of another for mere unproven accusations of petty stealing of laptops and phones? Indeed, the world has gone mad! No more justice, only jungle justice.
These four students Lloyd, Tekena, Ugonna and Chidiaka, of the University of Port Harcourt were on Friday, lynched in Aluu Community, Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State for alleged stealing laptops and phones in an off campus hostel. It was enough news to trigger pent up anger for what. I have lived with many horrific images and this? I keep on counting.
Now I think of the parents of the deceased; what’s running through their minds? Is this the reward for sending their children to drink from the imperial spring of knowledge? Could they’ve known…
Man has become an animal; no souls, dead conscience, only brutality, only taste for blood. We’ve all lost it. Where is the God of judgment?
As I said I’m still at shock. It could have been anybody’s child, anybody’s brother, my own blood. If you still got conscience, pause for a thought. What happens to arrests and courtrooms?
